Such fun, admittedly, not my best work this week, mistakes abound. I hate when that happens, but, gee-wizz, it does happen. I’ll Live and smile, hope you do too.
My first painting this week is of my attempt at doing a sketch and wash of my local coffee place. Fortunately, no one will recognize it and I will not be banned from it for life, I will try to do better next time. I even found out that my ink is not water proof.
My next painting is from a photo I took in beautiful downtown Vienna Austria. There was an older gentleman sitting in his very nice and shiny vintage Volkswagen Beetle. It felt good to draw this 4X6 post card of the scene as I looked at the picture. It seems that I started to loose the magic as I was applying the paint. It is still a very memorable moment, but I will have to do it again, the Beetle was much nicer in the photo than in my drawing. I still had a lot of pleasure working this one.
I needed to be uplifted, I was having one of those weeks so I decided to work on some simple flowers. And I do admit that I feel better about them. I see my pencil marks and I am not sure what kind of flowers they are. Okay, they are not my best flowers.
So I drew some more flowers. I can see from these that the flowers that I painted without drawing are better. I will work on some more flowers without drawing them in, maybe I will have some ready for next week. I am retired and just doing this for my own personal pleasure, I don’t have to be good, but as I learn things it wouldn’t hurt me to improve a bit. I am going to try some real flowers, Maybe do Plein Air flowers at my coffee house.
