A Sketchy Photographer With Paint & Brushes

I feel like sometimes I might have a Gothic, Punk Rocker inside of me instead of an inner child.  And when I stand back and look, well it probably is an inner child, but one with a bit of an attitude, and boots that are too tight.

I take pictures of things that bring about an emotion within me, maybe memories from a past life.  Things that are not truly part of me, but are there anyway.  The sketchy part of me tries to draw the scene in the manner of a child, and, while the child is still there, I add some colour.

I often sketch things I find in my photographs; it takes a bit of time and forces me to be mindful of my body’s movements. (Yes, there are occasional shakes and jerks.)  I am close to being a point and shoot photographer, catching my prey quickly, pressing the trigger and moving on.

I have been retired for three years now, but I am still working at slowing down enough to appreciate my experiences.  Below, I offer both the photo and the watercolour sketch. The artist in me is doing the artist thing, there is no rule demanding that my art be pleasing to all.

Momma taught me to “never to give it away if they don’t appreciate it,” $7500.00 (CDN) and the painting is yours, postage paid!
