We all have that inner demon that longs to be fed a meal that will comfort the raging soul. We all need that, not always good for the health, but great for the soul food, not to mention the mental health blessings that accompany the libatious delight.
Some desire ice cream, some chocolate covered anything, chicken wings, onion rings, poutine and a whole menu’s worth of other culinary delights. We all have the one guilty pleasure.
Mine just happens to be a Donair, I like the meat hit, the yogurt, the scant salad like vegetables, the tzatziki and a bit hot sauce. It comes from a past life in some mountainous zone when I just needed food and I felt no urge to share it.
Donair Star on twelfth avenue is my goto pleasure palace and has been for some time. The same owner for seventeen years, daughters that work long shifts on weekends and throughout the summer, and the younger brother who always seems to be cleaning.
The combination of family, food offerings and close availability make this my temple of blissful destination, I am weak. My sweetheart likes it too.
Here is my photo of a quiet visit, with the friendly proprietor patiently waiting for me to be next in line.

My warm feelings extend to my quick drawing, trying to catch what essence other than the food that enchants me.

The finished watercolour, not even close, but that is the point, I like it! And the fourth image, a bit of experimentation.

I took my Painting into Photoshop to see what I could do. It was a fun experiment until I noticed that the TIFF file I created was a little over a gig in size. May not do that again!
